Senior Java/Flash/Flex Programmer to lead software development for Mobile Robot Project
Roles and Responsibilities
You will design, architect, document, code, and test a Flash-based client that communicates with a four foot robot named TiLR, over the web. This client will provide bi-directional video and audio, let the user commandeer the robot in real-time, and display sensor reading from the robot. On the robot’s LCD display will be live video feed from the user’s side. The entire system will provide enterprise-grade VoIP on both ends. You will let the user take pictures and record the session, or upload images that will show on the robot’s display. You will do this using Agile techniques, write superb documentation, respond quickly to bug reports, and work your hardest to make it the most reliable, user-friendly, and awe-inspiring robotic telepresence software that will ever be created. You will be both the BRAIN and the BRUAN of this project and will do so working closely with other engineers and the CEO.
Requirements
- You are a BRILLIANT technologist looking to invent an extraordinary robot reminding you of things you read in science fiction books or saw in Star Wars when you were younger.
- You have lots of (and we mean lots of) experience and expertise in Java, Flash, Flex, and AS3 development. You also know other languages like C, C++, C#, HTML, SQL, Python, Ruby, and others… and can learn a new language in three days tops.
- You have experience in Flash Media Server, Red5, or other similar technologies.
- You have prior experience in real-time bi-directional video/audio/data streaming, similar to video chat and web-based collaboration tools.
- You are self motivated, need little management, can map out your own schedule within given deadlines, and love the challenge of getting things to work with high quality, high reliability, and high fidelity to specs.
- You work alone but go to battle with fellow soldiers.
- You have worked in large companies as well as startups where you were the only programmer.
- You enjoy challenging yourself and working all kinds of hours to make cool things that everyone agrees is “impossible”.
- You bring innovation, creative thinking, problem solving, fresh ideas, and most importantly, a great winning attitude.
- You take pride in work.
- You are fun and energetic who can go head-down and write code for 12 hours straight in a hyper-speed (but laid back) environment.
- You don’t get upset when people who know less than you critique your work.
- You have strong academic background.
- You are SUPER SMART, have credentials to prove it, but you never need to because people can see it as soon as they meet you.
